Working in a sales office, we get this question a lot: “Is now really a good time to build?” or “Should I wait for prices to come down?” It’s understandable why people ask this question. Many people work their entire lives saving for their dream home, and no one wants to make a huge mistake with their money. Over the years, we’ve seen many people hold off on building their dream home only to come back and pay even more money later.
We like to think back to Grandpa and Grandma in 1950. Only 70+ years ago, the average home was around $7,000 – $8,000. What happened? Or a better question might be: “What is going to happen?” I wonder if Grandpa and Grandma thought they should wait to buy?
While we can’t guarantee the future of the economy, we can tell you that it’s almost never helped anyone to wait for prices to come down. Even during the 2008-2012 recession, while the cost of existing homes fell a little, the cost to build new didn’t fluctuate much at all. And 10 years later, home prices are double, as has been the routine for many decades.
So, if you are asking yourself if now is a good time to build, our honest answer is “Yes! It’s a Great Time to Buy!” Come visit our Design Center in Necedah and start planning your Dream Home today!
